This is the first time I heard Laura's version. It's so different and I must admit it made me smile. Hard to pick a favorite even though it's been almost 40 years since I heard Barbara's version.

I ADORE Barbra & have never listened to Laura Nyro before today. Despite this, I prefer Laura's version.
I don't think the song does anything for Barbra, nor does she do anything for it! Her stunning voice is wasted. To me, this seems much more a "writer's" song than a "singer's" song.
Laura's version & quirky time signature do justice to her originality.
Also, I'm searching for an unreleased recording by Nyro with Kenny Rankin (RIP), called POLONAISE- can anyone find or upload it?

This was the second single in Barbara Streisand's Laura Nyro trilogy. The first was "Stoney End" and the third was "Flim Flam Man." For the most part, she stays pretty faithfull to the original arrangements.

My opinion is definetely that Laura Nyro's version is much better. Barbra's is also good, but I think, so ordinary... Laura's is positive chaos:) and I adore her soprano voice!
